Nice walk to Estella today. After arriving there was a parade for the feast of Saints Peter, Michael and John.

A long pull up the mountain

The pictures start with the Jesus and Mary hostel we stayed at last night. 

We walked starting at 6:30 this morning in beautifully clear air. The longest part of the day was walking up through a pass in the mountains with brisk winds which is attested to by the wind mills. 

A nice lunch of ham on a baguette with a bottle of wine. Overall a good day of walking. 

Pamplona

We made Pamplona today without difficulty. I am some what surprised that none of us are having any foot troubles. We crossed several Roman bridges today. We are staying at the Jesus and Mary hostel. 

Pamplona is an old Roman fortress to protect it from attack from the north. The walls still stand and are included in todays pictures.

20 km today. 

The terrain is a lot like Montana. Most of our walk was on a trail in the wood. As we got close to todays destination an enterprising business put up a billboard.

We have taken our first steps toward Santiago today.

Arrived at starting point, Roncevalles, Spain

Got a shower and a glass of wine, life is good again. The walk starts in the morning.

3rd leg, Madrid next stop

Delayed at Sal Lake, got off the plane at JFK and right onto the Madrid flight; all is good, next stop Spain.
